Pak vs SA Live Streaming-Schedule
Pakistan are set to tour South Africa for 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20s by year end. The matches would be played across different regions in South Africa. The tour marks Pakistan’s first assignment in South Africa since 2013. Back then Pakistan were a miserable side and yet managed to beat South Africa in the ODIs and the T20s. They, however, were blown away in the Tests.
The tour commences with the Test and then we would head to the ODIs, eventually concluding with the T20s. The 1st Test would be played at Centurion between 26th and 30th December. The 2nd Test would be played at Cape Town between 3rd January and 7th January. The start off time is scheduled to be 1300 PKT at Centurion and Johannesburg and 1330 PKT in Capetown. Talking of the 3rd Test, it commences on 11th January.
The 5 Match ODI series would be played between 19th and 30th January. The first Match would be played at Port Elizabeth on 19th, 2nd in Durban on 22nd, 3rd in Centurion on 25th, 4th in Johannesburg on 27th and the 5th on 30th January at Cape Town. Other then the 4th ODI, all others would commence by 1600 PKT (4th would begin by 1300 PKT).
The series would conclude with 2 T20s-the first at Capetown on 1st February and the second in Johannesburg on 3rd February.
PAK vs SA Head 2 Head
Pakistan and South Africa have played 23 Tests as of now. South Africa has won 12 of them while Pakistan has only been able to manage 4. 7 Tests have ended without a result. Interestingly, Pakistan has failed to win a test in South Africa. Their last outing was pretty dreadful to say the least.
In 73 One Day Internationals the two teams have played, South Africa leads Pakistan 47-25 (1 NR). Although, South Africa dominate as far as overall aggregate is concerned, Pakistan managed the subdue the side the last time they played in Africa. Could be interesting.
South lead in the T20s too, although marginally (6-5). Again, the last time Pakistan played in South Africa they dismantled the South African side.
Pak vs SA Squads
Note: ODI and T20 Squads are yet to be Revealed
As of now, only the Test Squads have been announced. Sarfaraz Ahmad is set to lead a young Pakistan side that has Imam ul Haq, Shan Masood and Fakhar Zaman as Openers. Babar Azam, Haris Sohail, Asad Shafiq and Muhammad Rizwan would battle it out for a place in the Middle Order. Unless anything drastic happens, Muhammad Rizwan is not going to make the cut. Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf are the two All rounders while Hassan Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi and Yasir Shah would lead the bowling attack.
Faf Du Plessis is set to marshal South African troops. The side has Hashim Amla, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn and De Kock as its primary pillars. Aiden Makram, Keshav Maharaj and Dean Elgar have been impressive over the last few tours and South Africa would hope that they fire as well. Temba Bavuma, Zubayr Hamza, Theunis debruyn, Duanne Olivier and Dane Paterson complete the 13 men African Squad.
What to Expect?
Both of these are young sides and we can have a good contest in ODIs. South Africa may blow away Pakistan in the Tests while Pakistan are a far better side as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned. Pakistan is a potent ODI side, only that it has underachieved in the last year or so. More importantly, South Africa aren’t the home giants they once were, losing 5-1 to India. Pakistan is no India but can surprise South Africa given that a couple of big guns fire.
This doesn’t seem to be the case in Tests with Pakistan struggling massively. In 2016, they were the best side in the World and since then it has all been downstream. South Africa are a great test unit. With Steyn Gun back, it all becomes more difficult for Pakistan.
Pakistan are he No 1 T20 side, having defeated New Zealand, England and Australia home and away. They are yet to lose a series under Sarfaraz and I expect the record to stand. South Africa were never a great T20 side.
Players to Look Forward To
Few have replicated the sort of impact Fakhar has on the Pakistani side. Whenever he does well, Pakistan generally does well. Pakistan rely heavily on Fakhar to up the anty, given the lack of impact player in the side. Fakhar has often repaid the debt, becoming the fastest player to 1000 ODI runs. While UAE pitches may never aid his game, South African conditions would. It is his chance to show the World that ain’t no One Time Wonder or Minnow Bully. Plus Pakistan’s chances are heavily dependent on Fakhar performing. South Africa would hope that they are able to keep him quite.
The 23 year old express Pace bowler is the finest Fast Bowling Talent in the Cricketing World as of now. The guy can swing it both ways at over 150 KPH. He has the results to back his claim to greatness- 151 wickets in 32 tests. If he doesn’t have a drastic fall, he would end his career as the greatest bowler to play the game. Further boasting his chances is that Pakistani batsmen aren’t prolific scorers against Pacemen. If Pakistan can counter Kagiso Rabada, they may win the Series.
