Head 2 Head

Tests

New Zealand and Sri Lanka have faced off 33 times. New Zealand lead 14-8 while 11 games have ended without a result being reached.

ODIs

Across the 95 ODIs New Zealand have played Sri Lanka, the former lead 45-41. While 1 game was tied between the two great International side, 8 ended without a result. While Sri Lanka had the better of New Zealand in the last couple of decades, New Zealand have regained control in last 5 years.

T20s

The two are head to head in T20s with New Zealand marginally leading by 7-6. Quite close to call? Huh!

While the Trans-Tasmanian rivalry is much hyped, this one is closer. It is too close to call on basis of past performance. New Zealand, however, have had the better of Sri Lanka in each format in the recent past and the further one. Sri Lanka have had their share of success too.

What to Expect?

So, we are talking about the only two teams to beat Pakistan in their home in UAE in the last half a decade or so but yet again defeating Pakistan in its current miserable state ain’t no big feat. While New Zealand are probably enjoying their golden Cricket age, Sri Lanka are yet to settle after retirement of Sanga and Mahela. Yet, you can’t rule out Sri Lanka’s grit and who would know it better than their bitter rivals, New Zealand. On paper, New Zealand are a stronger side and hence the favorites but even they wont take this Lankan team for granted. Only if Sri Lanka can address their woes, they can trouble New Zealand.

Would be an Interesting Series!
